Frequently Asked Questions
How long should my hair growth be?
-You should let your hair grow at least 1/4 inch minimum. Compare it to the length of a grain of rice.
What should I wear to my wax appointment?
-Loose, comfortable fitting clothing is best to wear.
How long does a brazilian wax take?
-I book bikini full and brazilian wax services for 30 minutes. However, the service should only take 10-15 minutes. I like to give my clients extra time so they don’t feel rushed.
How bad will the wax service hurt?
-Everyone has different pain levels. It’s never as bad as you think its going to be. The more consistent your waxing routine is, the less painful the service gets.
Can I use numbing cream before my appointment?
-I’d prefer if you didn’t. You should come with clean skin free of any products that could interfere with the efficacy of the wax service.
How uncomfortable will I be after my wax?
-Sensitivity usually goes down within the hour. Although, after your first wax you may be sensitive to the touch for up to 24 hours.
How long will the results last?
-Everyone’s hair grows at different speeds. And hair grows in different phases. After your first wax you may notice regrowth around 1 week. Once on a consistent wax routine your results should last around 2-3 weeks.
Could waxing cause my hair to grow back thicker?
-No. When waxed properly the hairs are removed from the follicle. Over time regrowth will start to slow and the hairs will become finer and softer.
Is irritation common after a wax?
-Ingrown hairs and/or irritation are a possibility. Consistent at home care and waxing every 4 weeks will keep your skin smooth and bump free.
Can I get a brazilian wax while on my period?
-Yes. As long as you have a tampon or menstrual cup in you can still get your wax. Just know you may be a little more sensitive than normal.
How long after my bikini wax can I have sex?
-Waiting 24-48 hours after your bikini wax is ideal. That will give your skin time to heal and the hair follicles to close.
Can pregnant women get a bikini wax?
-Yes. Positioning on the table may change a little and pregnancy may make the service a little more uncomfortable but you can get a bikini/brazilian wax while pregnant.
Please get the OK from your doctor before booking your bikini wax.
Do you wax men?
-I do offer most wax services to men. However, none of the bikini or butt services are offered at this time.
Can I go tanning after my wax?
-It is recommended you wait 24-48 hours after your wax to go tanning. The skin needs time to recover and tanning directly after a wax can increase chances of a sunburn and/or irritation to the waxed area.
Can I get a wax if I have a sunburn?
-No. Waxing over a sunburn will further irritate the skin and could be very painful.
Can I get a wax when using a retinol?
-No. Retinols can cause some sensitivity in the skin. It is recommended to stop using retinols 7-10 days before your wax service. (Tweezing is safe and can be used to replace the wax.)
Can I get a wax while on Accutane?
-No! Accutane can cause severe sensitivity in the skin and cannot be combined with waxing. Accutane should be stopped at least 1 year before starting a wax routine. (Tweezing is safe and can be used to replace the wax.)
Can I get a wax when I have a spray tan?
-No. Although the wax I use is very gentle on the skin, Waxing is a form of exfoliation and will remove or breakup the spray tan.
Can I get a spray tan directly after my wax?
-It is recommended you wait at least 24 hours after your wax to get a spray tan. It will give your skin time to heal and the hair follicles to close.
However, waxing can help your tan last longer!
Shaving not only removes hair but also skin cells. Waxing 24-48 hours before your tan will keep your tan even and help it last days longer.
